MIND, BODY & SPIRIT

It is framed after the pattern, mind, body, and spirit, which is talking about the whole complete self. And this is a phrase we hear a lot lately.

They are the foundational pillars of my coaching program and everything that I do

  1. Number One, BODY. And with the body, we focus on Intuitive Eating There are 10 principles of intuitive eating and it is a dynamic modality. , that helps you figure out your emotions, instincts, and rational thought, and it plays into your health

As you combine your inner attunement, AKA, your intuition with your outside proven health guidelines that you know to be true, you get that sweet spot in the middle of what, you know, as your own authentic health,

That internal factor is based on hunger cues, fullness, and satisfaction, rather than external dieting rules or restrictions.

2. Number two is the MIND. And with the mind, I talk about mental overhaul.

Mental overhaul is specific mindset skills, such as not seeing your thoughts as facts, and questioning your past programming.

And putting in new, empowering thoughts after you’ve cleared that all up. This is all tough work, believe me, but it is so worth it!

For example, you might need to work on some mental overhaul with the way you react to stress. To fill your cues in your body. It’s hard to do that if you’re under a lot of stress.

And to take it a step further, the example of you as a busy mom, or you as a busy woman at work, it’s hard for you to find out those cues. If you’re under a lot of stress.

So in the mom example, I would tell myself, and this is a true example in the past where I would say my family doesn’t give me time to eat, but it’s not a fact. You’ve gotta rework that.

This idea of reframing our minds is a lot like a ski slope. 🎿 We start at the top of that mountain with that trigger to stress. It goes straight to the bottom of saying, well, we just don’t have enough time to. We go to that same lodge every time. And that path is very groomed because you’ve taken it so many times. However, as I said, we want to create a new thought, but that’s hard to do when that lodge is way over here.

But the more you keep thinking that thought, the more you practice it, and the more you intentionally make it happen, you will carve out that slope over time and it will become smooth and it will be your automatic way to go.

So when you start feeling that stress that you just don’t have time to sit down and eat question that thought and put in another empowering thought in there. It will feel weird but try it, it works over time. Your circumstances might not change, but YOUR ability to manage stress will improve.

And as Latter-Day Saint Christians, we read the book Doctrine and Covenants to act and not be acted upon. And this is everything that it’s talking about right here.

You are empowered, not a victim, and you can choose what you think.

3. Number 3 is SPIRIT. And with that category, I focus on coming to Christ.

You can pull yourself out of this rut by doing those things I’ve talked about, but not alone. Christ is that missing piece? His atonement bridges that gap. When your efforts aren’t enough.

He is the one who will heal your relationship with your food and your body.

For example, let me tell you about this analogy of the “hole in our heart” that I learned from a coach of mine years ago, when I was going through my really hard mental health crisis, she talked about how everyone is born with a “hole in their heart.” ❤️

And that there’s actually nothing wrong that we’re all born with this, but we do end up filling it with things that we shouldn’t. We will throw in shopping, social media, people, pleasing, addiction, and all sorts of things into that hole to fill that ache we have inside.

And as far as we’re talking about here, we’ve thrown in food. We’ve thrown in diet culture. We’ve thrown in being negative to ourselves and our bodies. But that stuff just goes down into a deep abyss and never fills that hole. It is never to be satisfied. But when we finally put Christ in that hole, he comes and fills that hole forever and helps heal us in and hearts forever.
